richard dream was to make it north no matter what. during the jim crow era african americans were seen as less than human . he knew that if he was going to make it north he was going to need money . any opportunity he got to work to earn money he took it. when he tought he had enough money saved up he took up north. on his journey up north he started running out of money. so one of his jobs he took was at a hotel . there he stared seeing peopple selling illegle rum . he saw how fast they were making money so he had tryed it out. after saving some money there he took off father north where he ran into a girl that was so into him.

i've been reading this book for about two months and i have enjoyed it the whole way threw. i like to read about peoples strugles and how they over came them.
